Winning the Race to the Bottom

One evangelist suggested that “climate change deniers” should produce their climate change model.

To which I responded, the climate is forever changing and there is no model which incorporates all of the drivers and feedback loops. That is why IPCC global temperature predictions have been flawed.

So stop searching for an accurate model and look at what has happened. What should be clear is that penalising fossil fuels, before alternatives were available, was asinine.

The cost of energy in the UK has already risen to around twice the average for a western country. Now we are also expected to carry a Net Zero cost of around £5 trillion – for negligible benefit – while placing unsustainable demands on natural resources.

In 2020 the net global increase in atmospheric CO2 levels went up – from a 60 year average of 1.6ppm pa – to 2.5ppm. That was 4,600 times the U.K.’s annual emissions.

That was after a dramatic FALL in human emissions – due to Lockdowns around the world. It just shows again how insignificant the U.K.’s emissions are.

In 12 days, China emits the same amount of CO2 as the UK does in a year and is building 3 times more coal fired power stations than the rest of the world.

As we become more uncompetitive we will see more businesses moving abroad, where they will likely emit more CO2 than before.

We are winning the race to the bottom and that suits the big emitters fine!

Natural CO2 emissions far outweigh those from humans and they follow global temperature. As Physicist Prof Richard Lindzen observed:

“The influence of mankind on climate is trivially true and numerically insignificant.”
