Introduction

One of the thing one notices about this planet is that for every villain there are a thousand good guys, for every criminal a thousand heroes.

Criminals, spivs, con men and psychopaths never built anything. Civilisations are built and kept going by the good guys, the honest, productive people, people who care, contribute and help and they fail to the degree that such good people are undervalued, derided and dis-empowered. The criminals, con men, spivs and psychos only prosper by operating parasitically upon what good men have built.

Civilisations are not built by governments either. At their best governments can help with infrastructure, coordination and keeping the criminal off the honest man’s back. At the very least they can refrain from getting underfoot and inhibiting the efforts of good people to get worthwhile things done. And when they cannot even rise to that, they too become a criminal operation feeding parasitically upon the creative endeavours, good will and sheer hard work of the rest of us.

So it seems to me that while we are rightly bringing to your attention the criminal shenanigans and skulduggery of the corporate and political psychos who have hijacked and worked very hard to steer into the iceberg of stupidity the civilisation the rest of us are trying to keep afloat, we need to pay some attention to the flip side of all this, to the world’s sung and unsung heroes.

For they are legion.

We are growing a new civilisation from the grass roots. And while we weed out the pests and parasites that are trying to strangle the crop, let’s not forget the healthy crop to which our husbandry is devoted. – Steve

Ashton Kutcher may be well known for being silly and funny on television, but he’s recently revealed that his organization, Thorn, which helps find sex trafficking and child pornography victims and their abusers, has helped rescue around 6000 victims.

Devoting their efforts to focus on online trafficking, Ashton and his ex-wife helped an incredible 6000 people regain their lives back!

Ashton explained what the organization does by highlighting that they “build digital tools to fight human trafficking. The purchase and commerce for human trafficking are happening online, just like everything else now, and so we’re building digital tools to fight back against it.”

He says that they’ve, “built a tool to help law enforcement prioritize their caseload and recover victims and find traffickers. We’ve found and identified and recovered over 6,000 trafficking victims this year, and we’ve found, identified, and recovered 2,000 traffickers.”

“What we do at our core is we build technology to help fight sexual exploitation of children,” Ashton explained. “You can roll up your sleeves and go try to be like a hero and go save one person, or you can build a tool that allows one person to save a lot of people.”

Kutcher and his ex-wife Demi Moore created the wonderful and heroic foundation together, and using many of their own funds, have made an unbelievable difference in the lives of thousands of young girls around the world.

During an interview, Ashton admitted that, “I have a hard time talking about this issue without being emotional.”

His latest personal pledge and commitment is to end child pornography altogether, explaining that “Our next battle, my next commitment… I’m going to make a pledge that I’m going to eliminate child pornography from the internet.”

Ashton’s compassionate heart has led him to do something about the 20 to 30 million slaves, according to the U.S. state department, that exist in the world today. It’s possible that his previous career as a model opened his eyes to many unseen and not talked about things related to prostitution and human trafficking that exist in the world, and now that he’s achieved a great level of success, he’s doing something about it.

There are a lot of people working hard and using their fame and money to do something more. Kutcher is leading the way in proving that celebrities can help make positive and compassionate changes in the world, and he deserves our love and support.
