Labour’s Climate Policy: A War on Landlords
The latest development under Ed Miliband, has sparked considerable concern, particularly among landlords and property owners. The proposal centers around raising energy efficiency standards for rental properties, moving from the current requirement of an E rating to a C rating by 2030, and 2028 for new builds.
To meet the new standards, landlords need to invest in several types of expensive upgrades. These include:
- Loft Insulation
- Double Glazing
- Cavity Wall Insulation
- Solar Panels
- Heat Pumps
