Attacks on Survival Codes

Essay 14 in the series "Lighten the Load"

This is Essay Fourteen in the series Lighten the Load, a back-to-basics re-think of government. What should a government be and do? What should it definitely NOT be and do? Is it even necessary at all? If so, how much and why? How do we decide, against what criteria?

Attacks on Survival Codes

Beware of any person or group who seeks to undermine our customs and moral codes.

As I pointed out earlier, it is possible that morés and customs may exist that no longer assist survival. However, such instances are rare.

The majority of morés and customs are as helpful to survival now as they were thousands of years ago.

The honest, decent, survival-motivated (sane) person does not experience them as particularly burdensome, generally has no great trouble with their observance and their observance is rewarded by better survival, variously manifested in happiness and well-being, prosperity, a safer environment, more friendships and so on.

Man should be very, very careful about abandoning or changing his survival codes.

Error or carelessness in that regard can cost us dear. The sorry state of our modern world attests to this: its morés as to sexual conduct, honesty and so on have become devalued or abandoned and the human misery and insecurity that results is there for all to see.

There has resulted on the individual and social level a clear reduction in survival potential.

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … (TLB)
