Green spivs and shysters and the great windmill con – how dimwit politicians have been taken for a ride

And we, the People, have been fleeced yet again

by Andy Howlett

I’m often asked; if wind turbines are so useless, why did so many get built?

The short of it is, if you incentivise windmills and punish power stations, the industry will build windmills instead of power stations.

They gave tax incentives to wind while adding tax upon tax to gas. They invented elaborate subsidy schemes that allowed the wind “industry” to effectively print money out of thin air (Renewable Obligation Certificates). They dreamed up ever more elaborate pricing structures the “industry” could use to game the market. Often fraudulently.

Politicians thought it was a tremendously good idea so they pushed the industry for more windmills.

And that’s because the “industry” routinely lied about how much energy they produced. Until performance data started to leak out, the “industry” wanted to keep real performance data secret – or at least out of the public eye. The politicians bought the line that wind was cheaper because the means of working out the cost per MWh was and still is is fraudulent. Few in Parliament were going to challenge it because half of them think wind is “free” and that the wind “is always blowing somewhere”

Very few in the press ever bothered to challenge the mythology of the wind “industry” and very often the local press would simply republish copy from wind companies verbatim – and call it news.

The “industry” routinely told consumers that wind wasn’t subsidised – which was technically true because no direct payments were made by the government. The government just gave them a licence to add whatever they like to our bills.

For many years this lie went unchallenged.

The regulations were all tilted in favour of wind, as was the market, whereby the grid is obliged to take wind energy even if it’s not economical to do so. Moreover, the wind “industry” has been spared from any financial liabilities for the externalities of intermittency and the grid instability it creates. At times when gas is in very short supply, the grid has to ramp up STOR diesel generators around the country – and we’re still calling this “green energy”.

To this day, the wind “industry” has full time lobbyists and PR spivs who feed propaganda to the press, and The Guardian usually swallows it wholesale.

Were it that we had remotely adult politicians, the wind industry would have been wound down twenty years ago, but we have morons like Starmer/Cameron/Johnsons who think wind is a regenerative industry, despite most of the dangerous offshore jobs going to low paid Filipinos.

Imbued with ridiculous notions of “green jobs revolution” and “levelling up”, politicians have given this parasitic industry a free ride – mandating more of the same systemic, galactic scale fraud.

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … (TLB)
