Building a new civilisation – where’s the blueprint?

The degree of skulduggery . . .

Introduction

Our countries are being governed to death.

There doesn’t even appear to be a broad agreement on what government is for, what it is supposed to do and whom, if anyone, it is supposed to serve – or why – or how. There are not even firmly established criteria against which we should decide these things.

It is time we demanded something better than the tired, mis-managed mess that currently masquerades as government, if not for our own sakes, then for the sakes of our children and grandchildren because, unless we change it, we are heading for disaster.

Mankind, the human community has many fine qualities but, thus far, being able to arrive at a stable, sensible way to to coordinate the activities of large numbers of us has not been one of them. Well, we need to change that because that ineptitude is a really showing up as weak point that is holding us back – not to mention making a lot of people very miserable.

Can anyone, for heaven’s sake, come up with some fresh ideas that are not merely more of the same medicine that is already killing us, with a (slightly) different label on the bottle?

We need a plan, a blueprint for the new civilisation that is emerging.

This is my effort to help arrive at such an alternative, which I have serialised into a number of essays.

I hope you like it. – Steve

Lighten the Load – Essay One

Complexity

There is, I think, a natural law or at least a useful rule of thumb that applies to the field of governance

The degree of complexity is directly proportional to the degree of skulduggery

An important point to bear in mind is that neither politics, government, nor economics are actually very complex. They have been made to appear complex by those with a vested interest in the ordinary guy believing they should be left to the “experts” who “understand such things.”

And look where that has gotten us!

If the experts are so expert, how come politics, government, mental health, education and economics are such a mess? You would not think much of an expert engineer whose bridges kept falling down or a business advisor in his third bankruptcy, would you?

The complexity works like a smoke screen; you can’t see through all the jargon, gobbledygook and swarming shoals of red herrings to the shenanigans underneath.

So skip the complexity and don’t get sucked into its sticky web.

You can get your head around government; sorry to dash the hopes of those who have so much riding on you never seeing through their neat little caper.

You can pretty well understand how you relate to your neighbourhood can’t you? And your drug store, your dentist, your local school, your garbage collector and postman?

Well, the bigger picture is no more complex, it’s just that there are lots of postmen, drug stores, schools and garbage collectors.

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … (TLB)
