Keir Starmer Allegations: Integrity Under Scrutiny

Voice Coachgate: The New Scandal

A Sunday Times report highlighted that Keir Starmer met with voice coach Leone Mellinger on Christmas Eve in 2020, during stringent tier-four lockdown restrictions. The allegations revolve around the assertion that this meeting constituted a breach of the guidelines, which mandated home working and prohibited household mixing.

Richard Holden MP wrote a letter demanding answers from Starmer, raising pertinent questions regarding the legality of these actions and seeking clarity on whether this constituted a breach of the law. Holden’s letter emphasized the importance of integrity in leadership, pointing out that in the past, Starmer himself stated those who make laws should not break them.

Starmer and his party, on their part, argued that the voice coach’s status was essential for work, which is why Mellinger was listed as a key worker. However, this justification has raised eyebrows, given that key worker status was typically reserved for roles vital to the delivery of public services and essential operations during the pandemic.

Labour Government and Illegal Migration

The Labour Government’s stance on illegal migration is highly contentious. The amendments proposed in their new bill, the “Border Security, Asylum, and Immigration Bill,” dismantles deterrence mechanisms designed to curb illegal migration.

Repeal of Deterrence Sections: Sections one to six of the previous act, prohibiting asylum claims from those arriving illegally and mandating their removal, are set to be repealed. This could significantly widen the scope for asylum applications, even through illegal entry.

Detention Provisions: The powers granted to the Home Secretary for detaining illegal migrants swiftly without judicial review are also poised for removal. This shift might hinder the government’s ability to expedite the removal process, complicating detentions and increasing the likelihood of prolonged legal challenges.

Inadmissibility and Appeal Rights: By rescinding sections that rendered asylum claims inadmissible for those traveling through safe third countries and removing the rights to appeal detentions or deportations, the bill potentially eases the pathways for legal challenges by migrants.

Re-criminalization of Illegal Entry: The bill would also reverse some of the criminalization efforts of the 2023 Act, potentially meaning fewer prosecutions for illegal entry. This diminishes the seriousness with which illegal migration is treated.

Restoration of Legal Pathways: Crucial sections providing pathways to lawful residency for those who entered the UK illegally are envisioned in this bill. This stands counter to the previous stringent regulations aiming to prevent such pathways.

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … (TLB)
