UK Schools Have Banned Children From Playing Outsid

“It’s about the worst thing you can do”

Some schools in the UK have banned children from playing outside, claiming it is too hot.

Yes, really.

The Telegraph reports:

Teachers are keeping pupils inside for “hot play” breaks when their playgrounds are deemed to be “too hot to use safely”.

The move is designed to keep children away from outdoor surfaces that can become very hot to touch in the sun.

In the UK it’s currently mildly hot, around 29 degrees Celsius or 84 degrees Fahrenheit. Which means of course ‘PANIC, stay inside, do not go outside because you WILL die’ propaganda is everywhere, as well as the inevitable ‘look what climate change is doing’ guff.

The directive issued by schools has been branded “absolute nonsense,” with many warning that it is fundamentally detrimental to society to raise children as “wimps” and teach them they need to “hide from warm weather”, particularly sunshine.

Former head teacher Chris McGovern, now chairman of the Campaign for Real Education, told the Telegraph “I taught for 35 years. Any teacher knows that the worst thing you can do on a hot day is to keep children confined in the classroom. It’s about the worst thing you can do.”

“Of course, there can be situations where a particular child needs to stay indoors, and of course there should be areas of shade within the playground. But using common sense, it’s the worst possible way forward for helping these children,” McGovern further urged.

“Just as in cold weather, they should be out running around. So we’re making them into wimps. We don’t want to make children into wimps. We want to toughen them up a little bit,” he added.

He also highlighted that this is yet another strike against children’s freedom, which risks damaging their development.

“It’s an awful childhood we’re inflicting on children. And, of course, it encourages them to use their iPads and mobile phones if they’re confined,” he noted, adding “The worst thing they can be doing is staying indoors, playing on their mobile phones, and this is sort of encouraging them to do that. So yeah, it’s the opposite of what we want.”

Conservative MP Greg Smith described the development as “absolute nonsense” and yet another attempt to put “children in bubble wrap and away from anything that might be a bit uncomfortable”.

“The correct answer is to take precautions in heat – hats, sun cream, light clothing – not hide from warm weather,” he asserted.

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … (TLB)
