Inside the Great British Strike and the Battle for Britain’s Future.
“This is only the beginning,” says Jake Reed, Universities Director – The Great British PAC.
Yesterday, hundreds of thousands protested across the UK in what was dubbed the Great British Strike – a grassroots protest against mass immigration, censorship, and what many called a growing betrayal of Britain’s working class, pensioners, and national identity.
Like many towns and cities across the country, protests erupted in Nottingham’s Old Market Square.
Chants of “Stop the boats!” rang out as men and women from all walks of life rallied beneath the historic Council House. With Union Jacks in hand and passion in their hearts, they called for the restoration of border control, support for British workers, and the defence of free speech – values many say are under constant assault by Westminster’s political elite.
One of the most damning voices came from Tony, a local pensioner.
“The people of this country are under attack,” he told me. “Pensioners are under attack through the stripping of winter fuel payments, farmers are under attack, and the disabled are under attack through the cutting of their benefits. And now free speech is under attack — 33 people a day are being arrested just for tweets or online posts. Look at Lucy Connolly. Meanwhile, Huw Edwards is a free man. The Pakistani rape gangs didn’t even get 31 months.”
Tony called it what he, and many others, believe it is: “Tyranny — when the government abuses its power against the will of the people.”
I’d like to say it all went without interference, but a pre-planned counter-protest was already waiting for the Great British Strike attendees. Divided by dozens of marked officers, their chants of “Tax the rich and welcome migrants,” “Migrant rights are human rights,” and “Nazi scum, off our streets” stood in contrast to the patriotic feel of the main protest. While the protest was filled with Union Jacks and St George’s Crosses, the counter-protest was marked by Palestine and Antifa flags, along with the cookie-cutter placards the left always seems to bring.
Some onlookers watched over the protests. A group of university-aged women sneered at the sight, saying, “It’s so sad – they’ve been indoctrinated by the flag,” while glancing at the sea of patriotic banners. But others, even those who claimed no allegiance, were clear in their distaste for the status quo. “I don’t agree with either of them,” one man said, “but the only thing I agree with is that Starmer’s a w*nker.”
Despite the jeers and hostility from counter-protesters, the crowd remained defiant and proud. To many, this was a call for common sense — a reminder that Britain belongs to the people who built it, not to career politicians or global bureaucrats.
Across the country, similar demonstrations are gaining momentum as more Britons demand their voices be heard. This is only the beginning.
