Starmer has confirmed that British troops will be deployed in Ukraine and announced the formation of a new ‘Coalition of the Willing’ with European allies, who will also contribute troops to the effort.
An emergency summit was held in London, gathering key global leaders. Notably, the United States was excluded from this meeting, but the summit included Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau alongside several European leaders. The exclusion of the U.S. suggests a shift toward strengthening ties among other Western allies.
Starmer has pledged additional £billions in taxpayer money to Ukraine. A portion of this comes in the form of a loan, with British taxpayers likely serving as guarantors when Zelensky defaults.
Zelensky: The US will have to send their sons and daughters – exactly the same way as we are sending their sons and daughters to war, and they will have to fight. Because it’s NATO we’re talking about, and they will be dying.
