Reform need to put the people’s interests first: it’s the right thing to do, both morally and politically. Here’s how they can do this.
BRITISH PATRIOT’S SUBSTACK
Imagine if a party could adopt a policy that was politically popular and cost nothing. You’d think it would be a no-brainer and they would immediately propose it. But they don’t. These policies exist but political parties ignore them because they are in the pockets of special interest groups and prioritise these rather than ordinary citizens.
If only there was a political party that was different.
If only there was a political party that put our interests first. If only there was a political party that wasn’t corrupt and that cared about the people. I’d vote for it – wouldn’t you?
This is what we all hoped Reform would be. But there is scant sign of it … yet. There is time, of course. They have a lot of work to do both organisationally and in terms of policy setting, but how smart are they? If they have a functioning brain then they will pay attention because here are my personal ‘six of the best’ policies that are easy to implement, politically popular, morally right and cost nothing, nada, zilch.
1. Product labelling
Every poll shows that a majority of the public would like to buy British goods if they could – especially when it comes to food. British standards are higher than those of foreign countries (remember the donkey meat scandal when we were in the EU?!). Supporting British farmers is better for us, better for them, better for the economy and better for the environment. What’s not to like?
But how can you ‘Buy British’ if you don’t know where the goods on the supermarket shelf come from? Yes, it’s true that some supermarkets do label some fresh produce as ‘British onions’ or ‘British chicken’ or the like, but this is the exception, not the rule (and, by the way, proves that they know that doing so will increase their sales, precisely because people do want to Buy British). But most products are not labelled with the country of origin. I recently had the devil of a job trying to find British-made toothpaste as almost all of it is made in Eastern Europe; (in the end I discovered that Arm and Hammer is made here, so that’s what I recommend you buy). And if you are eating out then you are almost certainly eating some cheap foreign shit without knowing it!
So here’s the first policy Reform should adopt: a legal requirement that all products sold in Britain be clearly labelled with the country where they are made. For those goods that are assembled from parts originating from multiple foreign countries, the packaging should list each country which supplies parts worth more than 5% of the total.
Cost to the government? Zero. But very popular with the public and with the added benefit that it will tempt manufacturers to move production to the UK in order to benefit from increased sales.
2. Airport fees
There is a good reason why this country is known as ‘rip-off Britain’. We are constantly being fleeced by scum companies that rob us blind. They abuse us because they can. The government should protect us from them, but they don’t. One example is the fees that airports charge if you drop off or pick up passengers.
I have travelled extensively and in every other country in the world that I have been to you are allowed around 10 minutes to drop off your loved ones for free – in Italy, funnily enough, these areas are often labelled with the English expression ‘Kiss and Fly’! The same applies to picking up those that have arrived.
Most British airports used to have a similar system, but the (mainly foreign) Shylocks that run our airports have now introduced charges in almost every case. This is just petty nastiness and indicative of the contempt which international corporations have for ordinary British citizens. So it would be a real statement of intent for Reform to say that this will be banned and that airports will be forced to actually show some sympathy, for and friendliness towards, their customers.
Such a move by Reform would be the trigger for a recalibration of the relationship between companies and individuals, with the government effectively telling businesses that they either start voluntarily acting with old-fashioned decency or they will be forced to do so. Imagine how much more pleasant everyday life would become if this were to occur. And imagine the public’s reaction to a government that they perceived was actually on their side!
3. Consumer prices
But airport fees are just the appetiser – the main course is the reduction in the price of goods. We are in the middle of a cost-of-living crisis, with this and immigration being the two issues which the public tell pollsters are their main concerns. Some politicians try to blame the supermarkets for the fact that prices have risen so much, but the truth is that they are not the culprits and their profit margin is only around 2%. No, it’s the manufacturers who are the guilty men, increasing their prices by more than the rate of inflation.
And you don’t need to take my word for it; this was the official conclusion of the Competition & Markets Authority (CMA), the official body which should, in its own words, “promote competition and protect consumers”. If you want to know how bad the manufacturers’ profiteering is I suggest you watch this video, which will make your blood boil:
Not only are these manufacturers hiking their prices unreasonably, but they are acting like a Mafia extortion racket, preventing companies from shopping around internationally to find the lowest prices. Why doesn’t the government step in and fine them – or better still imprison their directors for price fixing and market manipulation fraud?
This is what Reform should make clear they will do as soon as they get into government. Prices would fall by 30%, 40%, or even more. This isn’t fantasy – this is what the same goods cost in other countries. Imagine how the public would react if Reform promised to do this. And imagine how much better off we would all be. A better way of life is possible – it just needs a government with the will to take the right decisions. It just needs a government that focuses on the needs of the people. Why doesn’t Reform make it clear that this is what they will be?
4. Motoring laws
How often do you hear motorists complain that they are being persecuted because they are an easy target? And they’re right – motorists are being victimised by left-wing, car-hating politicians and police who don’t want the bother and the risk of physical confrontation that comes with going after real criminals, so they go around fining middle-class motorists instead.
Reform should make it clear that they are the motorists’ friends and will put a stop to this. Take speed limits, for instance. The 70 mph motorway speed limit was introduced way back in December 1965 (before then there was no speed limit). But cars have improved immeasurably since then, especially their braking system. And don’t get me started on the more recent speed humps, Low Traffic Neighbourhoods, ULEZ and 20 mph nonsense introduced by some local councils. These marxist loonies won’t be satisfied until all cars are banned – or at least forced to have a man walking in front waving a red flag!
Reform needs to put an end to all this left-wing madness. Start by increasing motorway speeds to 80 mph, and then ban all the restrictions imposed by councils to restrict car use. Scrap speed cameras in any location where there hasn’t been an accident in the last two years and ban the police from engaging in random stops. Unless someone is driving dangerously (and filmed doing so on the police car’s dashcam) then they should not be stopped.
I accept that these policies – unlike the others so far – will be slightly controversial, but only among the left-wing chattering classes. Potential Reform voters will be delighted and more inclined to vote for the party. One of the weaknesses of Conservative governments, and the reason they never actually did anything, was that they were always afraid of what their Guardianista opponents would say. Reform must not go down the same road that is, in fact, a dead end. Reform needs to tell the Left to fuck off and die.
5. Pepper spray
Crime, and the fear of crime, is another issue that Reform should focus on. But the truth is that no matter how many more policemen you put on the beat (and yes, it should be policeMEN), you can never have enough officers to guarantee the safety of all the people on all the streets, all the time. So what you need is a way for people to be able to defend themselves.
The best way to do this is to legalise pepper spray.
Legalising pepper spray has only advantages – with no disadvantages at all. It is non-lethal and allows everyone – including women, the elderly and even the disabled – to defend themselves. It is cheap, simple, and can be used in any situation. It can be used by store staff to stop aggressive thieves; it can be used by women to stop sexual attacks; it can be used by the elderly to stop street muggings. It can be used against violent knife attackers and even aggressive, out-of-control dogs.
Pepper spray incapacitates temporarily but does not cause permanent harm. By allowing people to defend themselves pepper spray will save lives. If the teachers in Southport had had pepper spray those three little girls would still be alive today. Most European countries allow people to buy pepper spray over the counter and carry it without any licence or other restrictions. Why should the British people be denied the right to protect themselves from violent criminals? Why should we be forced to die?
I’ve heard mentally retarded left-wing scum say that if pepper spray were legalised then criminals would use it. What a moronic thing to say! Those criminals are now carrying knives which can kill you. If they were to switch to pepper spray then you would actually be a lot safer!!! Besides, there is no evidence whatsoever that criminals use pepper spray in those countries were this is legal.
If Reform came out in favour of the legalisation of pepper spray this would boost their support among the most vulnerable members of society: the elderly and, especially, women. Legalising pepper spray is the intelligent and moral thing to do – and as a bonus it would increase the party’s vote. You have to wonder why they are too stupid to understand this!
6. Non-stun slaughter
The final policy on my list of policies that are both popular and free is the banning of non-stun slaughter. OK, I accept that this one would be controversial, but only with those who oppose Reform anyway, so politically there is no real downside. 77% of Britons support a ban on this evil and barbaric practice. Given such an overwhelming level of support among the public, the fact that not one party supports this policy is proof of the failure of democratic politics in Britain. For many this issue is so important that it would swing their vote.
This is not a right-versus-left issue. Both the RSPCA and the British Veterinary Association support a ban. And nor would Britain be an international outcast if it imposed a requirement for all animals to be stunned prior to slaughter – this is already the policy in many other European countries, including Sweden, Norway, Switzerland, Iceland, Slovenia, Belgium and Denmark. And the European Court of Human Rights has ruled that banning non-stun slaughter is perfectly compatible with the Convention.
This is not inherently anti-Jewish or anti-Muslim. There are divided opinions in both those religions as to whether non-stun slaughter is really necessary. Many Jews and Muslims accept the use of stunning on the slaughter process. And in any case, there is no requirement (or indeed legal right) for either Jews or Muslims to eat meat at all, and many of them are vegetarians.
This is a moral issue. Non-stun slaughter is cruel, primitive, barbaric, savage and evil.
If Reform were to adopt a policy of banning non-stun slaughter this would not only be morally right but would also gain them a huge number of votes. And the cherry on the cake is that banning non-stun slaughter (and the import and sale of any meat produced this way) would encourage the fanatical religious extremists to leave voluntarily – making Britain a much nicer and safer country for the rest of us!
So there you are. My Super Six policies that are (i) easy to adopt and implement, (ii) cost nothing (very important considering the likely economic crisis the next government will inherit!) and (iii) will increase Reform’s support across the country. What do you think? Is there a policy that meets my three criteria and that you would like to add to this list? Let me know! And if you are a member of Reform then please give Nigel a nudge and wake him up!

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … (TLB)
