Greg Hadfield discusses exposing paedophile Ivor Caplin and being summoned to court for doing so

Journalist Greg Hadfield is facing criminal charges for exposing Ivor Caplin, a powerful Labour Party politician recently caught soliciting underage boys. The retired Brighton-based journalist has been summoned to appear in court after drawing attention to an obscene Twitter/X message posted by Caplin.

Yesterday, Hadfield joined Kit Klarenberg, host of Active Measures, to discuss what has happened.

“You’d be forgiven for not knowing but in recent weeks Britain’s governing Labour Party has become engulfed in a major scandal,” Hadfield said. “on January 11th, Ivor Caplin, a former Labour MP and defence minister … who has close personal connections to influential … Labour figures including ministers currently serving in Keir Starmer’s historically unpopular government was arrested after sending indecent images to and attempting to meet with a 15-year-old boy for sex.”

The timeline of Caplin’s now deleted X [formerly Twitter] account was a uniquely bizarre and grotesque mix of attacks on Jeremy Corbin and his supporters, advocacy for Starmer, clips of hardcore gay porn attempts to arrange meetings for sex with a wide variety of people often many years his junior and interactions with senior Labour figures,” he said.

Asking, “Could the media and political blackout on this story indicate there is a paedophile crisis in the British Labour Party implicating its highest echelons?”

Active Measures: Labour Paedophile Crisis? 26 January 2025 (59 mins)

If the video above is removed from YouTube, you can watch it on Rumble HERE.  On 16 January 2025, Hadfield pushed a lengthy article on Medium which compliments what he described during the Active Measures podcast.  You can read his article HERE.

The following is a brief summary of Hadfield’s discussion with Active Measures.  Please note that socialists have a bizarre habit of trying to distance themselves from socialists behaving badly by labelling elements of the Labour Party implicated in wrongdoing as “right-wing.”  This of course is nonsense, especially considering the Labour Party was born out of the socialist Fabian Society.  The Fabian Society continues to help shape Labour’s policy programme and the Party maintains strong ties to the Fabians.

Every Labour Prime Minister has been a Fabian.  And, with his election win in 2024, Starmer has joined their ranks.  He has a strong association with the Fabian Society.  He is a member of the Fabian Society’s executive committee. He has also written a Fabian pamphlet titled ‘The Road Ahead’. Starmer’s political philosophy is rooted in practical, gradual reform, aligning with the Fabian tradition of advancing radical long-term goals through empirical, practical and gradual reform.  This differs from other forms of socialism that promote socialist reform through often violent revolutions.

In short, when a socialist accuses someone who is a member of the UK’s socialist party as being “right-wing,” they are not simply saying that these people are not socialists (i.e. they are on the centre-left as opposed to hard-left or far-left of politics), they are playing mind games with themselves.  They’re absolving themselves of having to face up to the negative consequences of socialism and maintain their bubble of feeling good about their ideology, which is anything but good.  Socialism and communism rely heavily on activism, using words and psychology to make people believe what they want to them believe rather than facing reality.  This is where the label of “right-wing” comes from when socialists discuss unsavoury issues.  However, ignore the anti “right-wing” activism portrayed during the discussion and don’t allow it to detract from the core of the story, which it understandably is likely to do, because the issues Hadfield is raising are important.

Labour Paedophile Crisis: Introduction

Ivor Caplin, a former Labour MP and defence minister and best friend of Peter Kyle and Fiona Sharpe, was arrested for sending indecent images to and attempting to meet with a 15-year-old boy for sex   Kaplan has close personal connections to influential right-wing Labour figures, including ministers currently serving in Keir Starmer’s government.

Hadfield, a veteran journalist, has been documenting Caplin’s troubling behaviour for years and has potentially gotten himself in legal trouble in the process.  He was expelled from the Labour Party 15 years after joining for organising a meeting of socialists during the 2021 Labour Party Conference in Brighton.  Hadfield believes the Labour Party bureaucracy has been working against Jeremy Corbyn from day one, and he was targeted relentlessly for his support of Corbyn.

(Note from The Exposé: Jeremy Corbyn has a notable association with the Fabian Society, though he is not a current member. In 2016, there was speculation about his membership but it is not confirmed that he is a current member. The Fabian Society has traditionally been seen as part of the more moderate wing of the Labour Party, while Corbyn, also a socialist, has often been associated with the party’s radical hard-left.  The real battle on the hard/far left seems to be between Corbyn’s methods of implementing socialism against the Fabians’ methods of implementing socialism.  And perhaps in Klarenberg and Hadfield’s view the Fabian Society’s methods are too “moderate” for their liking and so the Fabian Society is labelled “right-wing.”)

Caplin’s Background and Departure from Parliament

Hadfield questions Caplin’s background and connections to high-ranking Labour figures, including Starmer MPs and ministers, particularly his sudden departure from Parliament in 2005.

Caplin was a councillor in Brighton and Hove for most of the 1990s and Labour MP for Hove from 1997 to 2005.  He left Parliament in 2005 to pursue his business career, but it is claimed he already knew that reporters from the News of the World were investigating his activities.

Despite leaving Parliament, Caplin retained a parliamentary pass, allowing him free access to the Parliamentary Estate, which he still holds today, even after his arrest.

Caplin’s Business Career

Caplin’s business career is questionable, with 14 associated organisations or companies not seeming to have earned significant money, despite him using his parliamentary pass as a consultant or lobbyist.

His influence in the Labour Party, particularly in Brighton and Hove, is significant, with him being accused of smearing good people with lies and feeding false information to organisations like the Campaign Against Anti-Semitism.

Caplin had a close relationship with Jess Phillips and Peter Kyle, and his financial situation after leaving Parliament is unclear, with some business ventures seeming to be more like a “calling card” than a successful business.

Caplin’s Charity Involvement and Twitter Activity

Caplin was involved with a charity based in Hove that worked with young people, but he stepped down as a trustee without explanation, and his Twitter account was suspended, with many Labour Party figures unfollowing him.

“Rachel Reeves’ account follows followed Ivor Caplin’s [Twitter] account. Tom Watson, Lord Watson … police officers, lots of people have been following Caplin … Laura Kuenssberg [BBC presenter] followed Ivor Caplin, lots of [BBC] journalists followed Ivor Caplin,” Hadfield said.  “A lot of them unfollowed and now the account has been suspended, I assume by the police, it’s difficult to see that evidence,” Hadfield said.

“I know some senior people [in Fleet Street] … who I’ve approached over the years about the scandal that’s gone on in Brighton and Hove and they’re not that interested in the narrative,” he said.

Adding, “No one seems to be that bothered about Ivor Caplin publishing scores, hundreds of these [pornographic content] every month.”

Hearing the news of Caplin’s arrest, Klarenberg searched Kaplan’s Twitter posts and said he discovered a “uniquely bizarre” mixture of praise for Starmer, attacks on Jeremy Corbyn, clips of hardcore gay porn and “propositioning very young men to the extent that one might call them boys.”

The Labour Party’s response to Kaplan’s actions is unclear, which leaves us to wonder if he may have enjoyed protection due to his well-connected status or if people were simply turning a blind eye.

“Caplin was hiding in plain sight as powerful unaccountable individuals often do, whether it’s in corporate workplaces, whether it’s in charities … wherever it is,” Hadfield said.  “Any 65-66 year old person, a former MP with a great CV, having such interaction with people who are at least four decades younger than him … should raise some concerns.”

He expanded on what he meant by “raise concerns.”  For example,  police sent round to each person who has published such images on the internet and “then haul them in front of the court.”

Legal Proceedings and Online Evidence

Last year, Hadfield received a caution over a tweet containing a screenshot from Caplin’s response to a young naked man despite Twitter saying the tweet did not breach its guidelines. He refused the caution by the stipulated time on 20 December.

On 11 January Caplin was arrested by police after being confronted by a vigilante gang.  Hadfield thought he might not be charged and might even receive an apology.  However, on 17 January, he received a notice summoning him to court over his tweet exposing Caplin.

The naked young man has over 440,000 followers on Twitter.  “I suspect none of them have been arrested,” Hadfield said.  Yet, Hadfield who was exposing Caplin was served a court summons.

Because Caplin used Twitter to advertise and play out his sexual deviancy, “We know the lab party knew about it, we know the Sussex police couldn’t ignore it and when it comes to court it will all be revealed,” Hadfield said. However, this is not the first time Caplin has been arrested and it has been brushed under the carpet.

Caplin was arrested on 11 March 2024 and investigated for alleged sexual assault on a homeless young person but his name was not released.  He was suspended from the Labour Party and arrested but not charged, with his case being marked as “NFA” (No Further Action) by Sussex police, despite evidence of his online activities, including liking and retweeting explicit content and making salacious comments under photos of young men.

Caplin’s online activities were publicly visible until Elon Musk decided to make likes private, but hundreds of screenshots were taken as evidence, showing his interactions with young men, including discussing meeting up and engaging in explicit activities.

Unsurprisingly, Caplin has publicly supported Starmer’s decision not to hold a public inquiry in the predominantly Pakistani and Muslim rape grooming gangs. He did this on GB News a few days before he was arrested.  Caplin also defended Starmer against criticism from Elon Musk, who had accused Starmer of failing to address child grooming and rape gangs during his tenure as Director of Public Prosecutions. Caplin described Musk’s comments as “completely and utterly unfounded” and declared them “not acceptable.”

Demonstrating that questions need to be asked about Starmer himself, Hadfield pointed out that Starmer was the Director of Public Prosecutions (”DPP”) when the Crime Prosecution Service (“CPS”) issued guidance stating that “got to be careful with kids, police should only pay attention to it when something is grossly offensive and they must have a high threshold of ‘is it in the public interest’.”

Hadfield was referring to Section 127 of the Communications Act (2003).  “Why are police and the state using this legislation to, in effect, silence people?” he asked.

“The only way I was going to get any of this out was to go to court having been accused of harassment and say, ‘that tweet is about Ivor Caplin and he’s been doing this and Peter Kyle, Fiona Sharpe and lots of Labour people knew about his online likes and his offline likes,” Hadfield said. “I’m not saying they knew that he was an abuser, I don’t know, but they must have seen the recent tweets.  [Caplin] started off two or three years ago, I think, on X liking only fans, young men, pornographic videos etc presumably to influence the algorithm so he’d see more of it .”

“After the ‘likes’ he segued into retweeting, reposting; he’s segued into replying. Eventually, in recent months, he’s taken up to sending Tweets” such as “he said to a young man in Kent, ‘Yes, I can make it to Kent, looking forward to it.  I am a bottom who likes hardcore unprotected sex’.  Someone showed him a penis with some equipment on it, he said, ‘Yes I’m okay with that and the equipment’.  I mean, these were public!”

Caplin has been released on bail until 10 April.  Hadfield is glad Caplin is getting his day in court.” I’ll be interested to see what happens on April the10th when his bail expires.  I don’t expect a trial anytime in the foreseeable [future],” he said.

Adding, “He’s not been charged but [he’s] still got be careful. He’s got to have his fair due process in court, the sort that has been denied to many others.”

“Section 127 [ ] has to be repealed,” Hadfield said. “It has to be repealed it. It makes no sense. It doesn’t protect people from online predators, clearly.”

“The guy who tweeted the image, the tweet that Kaplan replied to because he wanted him to, I think he said, ‘In your mouth nice’ when the option was over your face … he’s not been charged. he’s not been arrested. Caplin wasn’t charged or arrested. And it doesn’t do anything to stop them. And if it did stop them, they’d go underground on the dark web and out of public sight and then we wouldn’t have any clues.

“I hope that whatever happens on February the 13th, whatever happens when it goes to trial a few months later, what happens to the appeal to the divisional, court or the Crown Court or whatever happens at the end of this fantastically expensive road I hope we come out with the other side that they can’t be an Ivor Caplin, there can’t be a Fiona Sharpe and there can’t be a Peter Kyle who knew what either Caplin’s likes were on X and what his likes were off, or at least should have done – how could they not.”

Hadfield Is not going to back off his own case in defending the Tweet he posted outing Caplin. “I’ll pursue it until justice prevails. Not just for me … I have no reputation to defend, I don’t work for anybody, they can’t write to my employers like they do … And I question, ‘Where is what I used to call Fleet Street when I joined it in 1987?”

“If [my case] gets to court and beyond if it goes to a trial a hearing and then a trial and then an appeal then I don’t want to spend my kids’ inheritance, I don’t want to spend my house, I don’t want to spend my life, I don’t want to spend my family’s survival [on the high cost of legal fees] but equally … I am so determined about truth and justice – we have to somehow get this nonsense stopped, in court. And to get, finally, the people who have known about it and engineered it to be in the dock.”

We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … (TLB)
