Cancel Ed Miliband’s AR7 auction
NET ZERO WATCH
Britain now has the highest electricity prices in the developed world, despite paying average prices for wholesale gas. High energy bills remain the public’s top concern – fuelling anger with politics itself. Families are cutting back on essentials, businesses are closing, and trust in government is collapsing. Labour was elected to fix the root causes of this mess – promising a £300 saving on a typical energy bill.
Instead, bills have risen by £150, and the government’s Clean Power 2030 plan will make the situation much worse. The first step in delivering Ed Miliband’s targets is the next renewables subsidy auction, known as ‘AR7’. This will dramatically increase the cost of living, locking us into high prices for decades to come. At a recent Parliamentary inquiry, energy bosses admitted that even if gas were free by 2030, electricity bills would still be as high as today. A study by Professor Gordon Hughes, a former World Bank economist, has warned CP30 could add £1,000 per year to the cost of living. It is, quite literally, a plan to make electricity permanently expensive.
Britain’s first priority must be affordable electricity. That means prioritising dense, reliable power generation – including clean sources like nuclear – with lower system costs.
Without cheap electricity, there can be no growth, no industry and no national security. We therefore call on the Government to cancel the AR7 auction.

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … (TLB)
