SMALL BOAT MIGRANTS NOW OUTNUMBER BRITISH MILITARY

MIGRATION WATCH UK

There were a number of major news stories this week, including the killing of Charlie Kirk, an important voice on the Right. He is a huge loss. RIP Charlie.

On the migration front, the biggest story was broken by Migration Watch: the number of small boat migrants intercepted crossing the Channel since 2018 (182,188) now outnumbers the entire active and reserve strength of the British armed forces (180,779 as of January 2025).

Our report was reported by GB Newsthe Expressthe Daily MailBreitbart and Guido Fawkes (amongst others). It was then picked up by Nigel Farage MP and Reform UK, and formed the basis of several televised news reports yesterday evening.

It should be obvious how grave this situation is. The majority of people illegally crossing the Channel are military aged men. It’s nigh on impossible to vet them properly, while the government has little appetite for removing them. Meanwhile, as we house, clothe, make comfortable, and give £50 per week to everyone arriving illegally, our veterans and homeless are left to fend for themselves.

You can follow the ongoing increase in numbers on our Channel Crossing Tracker on our website.

We won’t stop speaking up and loudly about the alarming state of our borders and the government’s weak and ineffectual efforts to resolve the crisis.

Suggested Email to Your MP

This week, we suggest you contact your MP about Migration Watch’s report on the number of small boat migrants exceeding the strength of the UK armed forces. You can write anything you like, but we have provided a template below for your convenience. You can verify your local MP here: https://members.parliament.uk/FindYourMP.

“Dear [NAME OF MP],

I am one of your constituents, living at [YOUR ADDRESS HERE].

I was alarmed to read new research by Migration Watch that found the number of migrants intercepted crossing the English Channel since December 2018 has surpassed the number of active British military personnel and reservists. Rising to over 181,326 migrants as of 7th September 2025, illegal migrants arriving via small boats now exceed the personnel in the Army, Royal Navy, and Royal Air Force (collectively numbering 180,779).

Analysis of Channel migrant data by Migration Watch reveals that almost 90% of people crossing the Channel are male, and 67% are between 18 and 39 (so-called “military age men”).

I am worried about the threat this poses to vulnerable people in Britain, as well as the threat to national security more broadly.

The Centre for Migration Control has previously published research showing that foreign nationals accounted for over 28% of convictions for sexual assault on a female in England and Wales in 2024.

And in 2023, The Daily Mail reported nineteen suspected terrorists, affiliated with groups including the Islamic State and al-Shabaab, had entered Britain by crossing the Channel in small boats.

Can you reassure me that you and your party support the immediate removal of military aged men attempting to cross the Channel?

Kind regards,

[YOUR NAME HERE]”

Illegal Migration

Over 2000 people have illegally crossed the Channel in the last week.

X Posts of the Week

GB News has shared the story that an illegal immigrant, claiming benefits, jumped a 2,000 long queue of locals for a 4-bed to house him and his whole family.

Meanwhile Nick Timothy MP has been arguing – as we long have – for a period of net negative immigration.

MW in the Media

Our Chairman, Alp Mehmet, was quoted in an article by the Express reporting that almost 90% of men crossing the Channel illegally are of military age:

Alp Mehmet, Chairman of Migration Watch UK, said: “So, nearly 90% of those now crossing the Channel illegally are single men under the age of 45.

“Few, if any, have documents to back up who they say they are and why they are coming. And yet, we take them in, make them comfortable and most likely allow them to stay, house them and ultimately let them bring their families.”

Mr Mehmet continued: “No wonder they go on coming in record numbers. Meanwhile, the taxpayer foots the bill, faces the risks and suffers the consequences.

“Illegal Channel crossers should be detained on arrival, processed quickly and removed. It is the only way to stop the boats.””

And we were approached by the BBC (a rare occurrence!) to comment on a story about migrant work visa cancellations.

Finally, Alp appeared twice on GB News, once to discuss wasted money given to France in an attempt to reign in Channel crossings, and once to discuss Migration Watch’s report that the number of Channel migrants now exceeds the total strength of the British armed forces.

Our Articles of the Week

Independent journalist Charlie Cole has created a new site chronicling demographic change in Britain. His first article is on Universal Credit claims by foreign nationals:

“The number of Universal Credit claimants with either Humanitarian or Refugee status has increased massively in recent years. In April 2022, there were 67,444 people claiming Universal Credit with either status.

Fast forward to July 2025 and this has increased to 174,299, an increase of 158%.

It can be without doubt that this figure will continue to increase. 2025 is set to be the worst year on record for channel crossings and the majority of illegal migrants who arrive will have their asylum claims approved, if not at initial decision, after appeal.”

Harriet Line in the Mail reports that Reform UK is pledging, if elected to open a new migration ministry staffed only by civil servants who agree with the new government’s mission to reduce migration.

And Charlie Hymas in the Telegraph reports the Home Office has hired a religious adviser to help Channel migrants get married – despite the risk of so-called sham marriages being arranged for visa purposes

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … (TLB)
