The campaign to oust Chancellor Rachel Reeves has escalated further, with over 100,000 people now signing the petition on SackReeves.com calling for her removal.

Conservative Party officials say the rapid growth in signatures reflects what they describe as “surging public frustration” over the Chancellor’s handling of Treasury communications and her statements regarding the OBR’s fiscal forecasts.

The petition states:

Sack Rachel Reeves Now

  • Rachel Reeves wanted her Budget for Benefits Street so badly, she lied about the OBR’s forecasts.
  • All so she could justify breaking her promise not to raise tax on working people.
  • Labour’s lies are costing us more and more.

Sign the petition to make Keir Starmer do the right thing and sack Rachel Reeves.

A Conservative spokesperson said the milestone demonstrates that the issue has “struck a nerve with voters nationwide,” adding that momentum behind the campaign continues to build.

The petition, following the OBR’s publication of its correspondence with the Treasury, accuses Ms Reeves of misleading the public about the size of the fiscal shortfall ahead of the upcoming Budget.

Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch reiterated her position this week, stating that the Chancellor’s role is “untenable” and urging Keir Starmer to act.

Downing Street has not yet commented on the petition’s rapid rise or on whether the Prime Minister intends to take action. However, the growing number of signatories adds new pressure on the Government as scrutiny intensifies over the accuracy of briefings issued in the run-up to Budget week.
