BBC ‘pro-trans’ bias has damaged our children, hundreds of parents claim.
Hundreds of parents have accused the BBC of damaging their children with a ‘constant drip-feed of one-sided pro-trans programmes’, The Telegraph reports:
‘The Bayswater Support Group (BSG), which represents 650 mothers and fathers of primary school-aged children and teenagers who believe they are trans, has called on Ofcom, the broadcasting regulator, to launch an investigation into the corporation’s coverage.
Among their complaints is that senior BBC managers, including Jonathan Munro, its new head of news, dismissed their concerns and failed to take them seriously.
The group has urged the regulator to examine what it describes as the corporation’s “failure to uphold their duty of impartiality and safeguarding”, as a result of the BBC’s “constant drip-feed of one-sided stories… celebrating the trans experience without adequate balance and objectivity”.
The BSG said the BBC’s biased approach stretched back nearly a decade, promoting trans lifestyles to young people who were already vulnerable because of their age and mental health needs.
At times, the BBC even appeared to encourage children to undertake irreversible medical transition, the parents claim.’

Hundreds of parents call on Ofcom to investigate broadcaster for ‘constant drip-feed of one-sided programmes’
Hundreds of parents have accused the BBC of damaging their children with a “constant drip-feed of one-sided pro-trans programmes”.
The Bayswater Support Group (BSG), which represents 650 mothers and fathers of primary school-aged children and teenagers who believe they are trans, has called on Ofcom, the broadcasting regulator, to launch an investigation into the corporation’s coverage.
At times, the BBC even appeared to encourage children to undertake irreversible medical transition, the parents claim.
A spokesman for the group said: “The lack of action by the regulatory authorities has been in dereliction of their primary duty. Tragically, we can’t undo the damage this has done to our children, but hope this complaint will cause Ofcom to address the years of failure to regulate the grossly irresponsible and politically motivated coverage of the BBC.”
In the letter to Ofcom from Conrathe Gardner, the group’s solicitors, the BSG said: “Regrettably [we] have faced consistent resistance from the BBC in their unwillingness to amend stories which promote a one-sided perspective on trans issues and incorporate a more critical perspective on promoting transition (social and biological) based on the lived experiences of parents.
“The BBC has consistently failed to engage with safeguarding concerns raised by Bayswater as to the risk of harm caused by prolific reporting on the alleged connection between gender questioning and suicide/self-harm.”
The call for an investigation comes after the broadcaster was accused of “indoctrinating” children with pro-trans programmes.
According to Transgender Trend, a gender-critical campaign group, a number of children’s shows broadcast by the corporation uncritically presented “activist” perspectives on the transgender debate.
Bias crisis
The BBC is already engulfed in crisis after The Telegraph exposed an internal 8,000-word memo compiled by a whistleblower that alleged widespread bias within the corporation.
The memo accused the BBC of the misleading editing of a Donald Trump speech, as well as alleged impartiality in its coverage of the conflict in Gaza, climate change and gender identity.
The BSG said it contacted Mr Munro in December 2020 over what it claimed was a biased news report of a High Court ruling that restricted children under 16 from accessing puberty-blocking drugs.
The group said that Mr Munro, who was the then deputy director of BBC News, Richard Burgess, the director of news content, and Tim Davie, the then director-general, appeared to be dismissive of their complaints.
A parent from the BSG also complained to the BBC about an article in May 2021, which appeared to link trans sports policy to suicidal thoughts.

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … (TLB)
