European Court of Human Rights finds Ukraine guilty of 2014 Odessa Masssacre, Kremlin comments

ER Editor: A reminder that the Maidan coup in 2014 was run by the western deep state under Obama and Victoria Nuland to rid Ukraine of its democratically elected leader, pro-Russian Viktor Yanukovych, who had put an association agreement with the EU on hold around that time. The coup would thus turn Ukraine into a military threat to Russia right on its own doorstep.

Opponents of this ousting of their president protested in Odessa outside the trade union building in early May 2014. They were then pushed inside it on a pretext, locked in and burned to death. Explosives were also set. Those who tried to escape by jumping out of windows were beaten. Some deceased inside the building seemed to have been stabbed and/or raped before being individually set alight. We recommend any of the three links below. The first link below contains images of that day; this link provides more (warning, graphic images).

What we weren’t told at the time was that the thugs who did this were actual Nazis, supporting the western Neocons, some of whom are pictured below.

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has found Ukraine guilty for some of its actions and deliberate negligence on that fateful day for the anti-Maidan protestors.

This is the original RT report to which the Kremlin responds below–

Ukraine guilty over 2014 Odessa massacre – ECHR

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has ruled that the Ukrainian authorities were responsible for the deaths of 42 anti-coup activists in the city of Odessa in 2014. They lost their lives when Ukrainian nationalists, who supported the armed takeover in Kiev weeks earlier, torched the port city’s Trade Unions House where the protesters had gathered.

“The Court concluded that the relevant authorities had not done everything they reasonably could to prevent the violence, to stop that violence after its outbreak, and to ensure timely rescue measures for those trapped in the fire in the Trade Union Building,” the ECHR said in its decision published on Thursday.

More than a decade later, Kiev has not named or prosecuted any of the perpetrators. Instead, it pinned the blame on Moscow, claiming that the events in Odessa were “a pre-planned and well-financed operation” by the Russian security services. Moscow has repeatedly called for an investigation, even a special tribunal on the massacre.

Relatives of 25 victims, as well as three people who had survived the fire, filed complaints against Kiev with the ECHR. …

The ECHR has ordered Kiev to pay all the applicants varying amounts of compensation and cover their legal costs. According to the Ukrainian media, the claimants are to receive between €12,000 and €17,000 each ($13,028 to $18,456). Ukraine has not commented on the ruling so far.

Kremlin comments on ECHR Odessa massacre ruling

The European Court of Human Rights found Ukraine responsible for failing both to prevent the 2014 tragedy and to properly investigate it

RT

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) ruling holding Ukraine accountable for the massacre in the city of Odessa in 2014 appears to be a “glimpse of common sense,” Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told TASS on Friday. However, a single ruling is not enough to draw broader conclusions, he added.

Kremlin comments on ECHR Odessa massacre ruling

The ECHR found the Ukrainian authorities guilty of the deaths of the so-called anti-Maidan activists, who burned to death after taking refuge in the Odessa trade union building, which was subsequently set on fire by radical nationalists. The court ruled on Thursday that Ukraine failed to take all reasonable steps to prevent the violence, halt it once it began, or rescue those trapped in the building.

“A very belated decision, but it seems like a glimpse of common sense,” Peskov remarked. “To confirm this, we need to see other similar actions. Which, of course, we would like to witness.”

On May 2, 2014, clashes erupted in Odessa between Ukrainian nationalists, who supported the armed coup in Kiev that had occurred several weeks before, and those who opposed it. The pro-Maidan activists attacked a tent where local residents were gathering signatures for a referendum on the federalization of Ukraine and recognition of Russian as a state language.

Outnumbered by the far-right radicals, the anti-coup activists took refuge inside the city’s trade union building.  However, the nationalists surrounded the building, lobbed Molotov cocktails at it and eventually set it on fire, resulting in 48 deaths and over 200 people injured.

More than a decade later, Kiev has neither identified nor prosecuted any of the perpetrators. Instead, it has shifted the blame to Moscow, alleging that the events in Odessa were “a pre-planned and well-financed operation” by the Russian security services. Moscow has repeatedly called for an investigation into the massacre, even advocating for a special tribunal to be convened.

Relatives of 25 victims, along with three survivors of the fire, filed complaints against Ukraine with the ECHR. The court ruled that the Ukrainian police had “had ignored the available intelligence and the relevant warning signs” and made no “meaningful attempt to prevent the clashes” that led to the fire. While the ECHR acknowledged that “propaganda from Russia had had its part” in tensions being escalated, it admitted that this did not absolve Kiev of responsibility for the massacre.

Rutte Confirms NATO Normalization with Russia, Ukraine Membership Off the Table

ER Editor: It’s posted below in a tweet from him, but here is the text from Clandestine on Rutte’s admission about Ukraine and NATO membership. Note the comment about ‘slimy Soros-owned’ Rutte, which is why we believe he’s 2.0 by now, taken out under EO 13818 (see this we published way back in November 2023 — Rutte for NATO? “I don’t know him. Doesn’t ring a bell.”) —

Yesterday, NATO Secretary General, Mark Rutte, was in Washington meeting with Trump. Today, Rutte is now confirming that NATO membership for Ukraine is off the table, and that relations with Russia need to be normalized post-war.

I don’t know what Trump told Rutte behind closed doors, but based on Rutte’s comments today, it appears he has accepted that Trump holds all the cards. NATO officials are beginning to accept their fate that this conflict is soon going to be over and the money laundering operation is done.

Granted, Rutte is still a slimy Soros-owned politician, but it appears even he knows when he is beaten.

Trump is dictating the terms for the agreement between Russia and Ukraine, and there’s nothing EU/NATO officials can do about it. This might seem small, but Rutte admitting Ukraine membership is off the table is a MASSIVE step towards ending this war.

Rutte Confirms NATO Membership For Ukraine Off The Table, Hints At Future Normalization With Russia

In fresh comments NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte confirmed that NATO membership for Ukraine is off the table when it comes to negotiations with Russia to end the war.

Rutte in an interview Friday was asked by Bloomberg TV’s Annemarie Gordern if Trump has definitely removed the issue of Ukraine’s accession to NATO from the negotiating table. Rutte answered “yes” and nodded in the affirmative when pressed.

The issue of NATO constantly expanding right up to Russia’s borders, which especially ramped up in the mid-2000s during the Bush era, has been consistently identified by President Putin as a key motive in his ordering hundreds of thousands of Russian troops into Ukraine in February of 2022.

Russia sees this as a continuation of a war in Donbass that was already burning since 2014, which saw CIA and Western intelligence assist Kiev in seeking to push back Russian influence. But the reality has always been that natives on the Donbass are overwhelmingly Russian-speaking and pro-Moscow.

Rutte’s predecessor Jens Stoltenberg made a bombshell admission in a televised 2023 speech stating that the bloc’s refusal to stop expanding east as a key reason for why the Ukraine war started.

ER insert, from February 2023 —

NATO Chief Admits: “War Didn’t Start In February Last Year, The War Started In 2014”

“President Putin declared in the autumn of 2021, and actually sent a draft treaty that they wanted NATO to sign, to promise no more NATO enlargement,” Stoltenberg said at the time. “That was what he sent us. And [that] was a precondition for not invade [sic] Ukraine. Of course we didn’t sign that.”

Previous to those words, this was considered a ‘pro-Kremlin talking point’. NATO chief Stoltenberg had even emphasized in the remarks that Putin “went to war to prevent NATO, more NATO, close to his borders.”

But apparently no lessons have been learned, and mainstream Western media has still by and large failed to feature the Stoltenberg admission as part of the narrative on the build-up to war.

As for Rutte, he explained in the new Friday Bloomberg TV interview Europe could normalize ties with Russia when the war is over. “It’s normal if the war would have stopped for Europe somehow, step by step, and also for the US, step by step, to restore normal relations with Russia,” he stated.

Rutte just met with Trump in Washington on Thursday, and then said this… (ER: the text is posted above)

“The Trump administration, the president himself, broke the deadlock in this war because he started to engage with the Russians. I think that’s positive for the Ukrainians,” he stated, in another rare admission.

This is a turning point in the rhetoric, as it means NATO’s leadership has just backed Trump’s efforts to negotiate a final settlement, but likely it will be a difficult, long path – also as Moscow clearly holds the cards on the battlefield at this point, resulting in all the leverage in diplomacy.
